When Cow hears children reciting a nursery rhyme that includes “and the cow jumped over the moon,” she panics. How can she jump that high? Cow doesn’t want to disappoint all the children but what can she do? Despite encouragement and coaching from her animal friends, all her attempts fail miserably. Is it simply an impossible task? This humorous story of determination, friendship, and cooperation will bring a smile to young and old alike as Cow attempts this wondrous feat.

Inspiration for the book

When I taught school, I would someitmes ask students to rewrite a familiar story from a different point of view. This gave them a chance to consider something from a different perspective. Some stories were humorous; others were more soul-searching. All of them were enjoyable to read.

Since I have always enjoyed nursery rhymes and fairy tales, I thought I would task myself with creating one of them from a different point of view. Could I create a story that might intrigue readers of any age? That was my goal in And the Cow Jumped Over the Moon.
